Endless War in Mexico

The violence in Mexico continues to be a nightmare for the citizens of the Central American country. Since President Felipe Calderon came to the power at the end of 2006 more than 22,000 people have been killed.
the bloodiest period in this recent history of Mexico has been during the year 2009 when 9635 people died. These figures are incomparable to the 62 people who died under the command of Vicente Fox in 2006. This makes Mexico in the eyes of some a “failed state”.

Points to consider

The growing war between the gangs has added thousands of deaths in recent months. The problem comes from far, a number of points that facilitate the steady increase of violence in this territory. First, the position of the country, next to the United States serves as a connection with Europe and North America , being a claim for the major criminal organizations, so the disputes over drugs distribution is constant between these groups.
Another highlight is caused by the closure of the border and the changes inside the market. Now the “carteles” are pressured by a market that is going down and they feel “forced” to look for new business, in which they can obtain quick benefits. Therefore, new organizations also focus on the abduction and piracy, showing as large corporations and terrorizing anyone who is against it.
The problem for the people start from these points, when those corporations get control of most businesses, such as weapons, petrol stations and brothels, getting to have the whole world under his power.

Current strategies are not efficient

The recent appearance of 39 bodies discovered in a clandestine grave in the state of Guerrero, where they think that could be inside more than 100 bodies, confirms the social problems which are facing the country, where street violence continues in a foreground without the Aztec government, for the present, could do something to avoid this drug war.
In turn, this week a great impact has been caused by recent emergence of six bodies. Three men, two women and a minor were found in a hole with their hands tied and clear signs of torture. By removing the bodies, forensic experts noted that victims had the heart torn and a large “Z” marked on the stomache, signs of one of the most vicious Mexican gang “Los Zetas”, so it is possible that the killings are related to one of these group rituals.
After these riots people can see that the position of the Mexican government has is not at all easy, because a lot of decisions have to be taken to protect the health and public safety. If they continue with the full implementation of the law, violence is expected to increase in the short term. However, the governors expect satisfactory results in the medium and long term, considering the current method positive against the fight to eradicate corruption and drug distribution, although the results show otherwise.
According to a study at the University of Oxford, to begin to stop the existing problem is necessary to combine this strategy with an improved education and prevention on the illegal consumption of drugs and the consequences that it has to public health.
